We want to re-brand the existing second life island to one that we can experiment with more. The general plan is to move on from large building projects to educational uses of the software.

Educational deas for using SL:

 * (Chris) Put video streams of top 5 vodcasts from a range of subjects on plinths in an area multiple avatars can watch and discuss e.g. like the looping video you get in museums
 * (Howard) use the island to extend or replace f2f events e.g. shock in second life
 * (Howard) can second life be used to cut f2f travel e.g. avoid car and airplane journeys?
 * (Howard) replace f2f events where anonymity is preferable e.g. to discuss contentious issues
 * (Howard) use for research topics e.g. where identity might be the core aspect (are large avatars bullies?)
 * Nature (the journal) have an island and claim scientist particularly enjoy the experience - maybe we can make scientist at Oxford more aware they can use the island
 * (Chris) Meet The Prof! Invite people to come to a question and answer session with a leading academic. The Academic doesn't necessarily have to be an SL user as it would be possible to have someone fly a puppet account for them. They would just need to react to written questions (which could be moderated...) and then speak into a mic. Perhaps the questions could go via another person, so it turns into more of an interview type thing, but till allowing the audience to submit questions.
 * (Chris) Extend this idea to a panel discussion. Have the discussion somewhere in Oxford and stream the video into SL, then, again via a moderator, invite feedback from the SL audience.

What the SL web pages should include:

 * how to get access
