This wiki page is provided to help members of the low-carbon ICT benefits realisation project collaborate.

This wiki page should be seen as a communications tool rather than a project plan e.g. it should describe an up-to-date view of what is happening, planned and has been completed.

The project is scheduled to run between June-Dec 2009.

Work tasks

Run bIT campaign

Owner: Howard

The 'do your bIT' campaign is aimed at three groups of users in Further and Higher education organisations:

  1. Academic staff and students: the users, we want them to do two things (a) switch their desktop and laptop computers safely and reliably to a low-power state. If they are told they should not do this then they should ask why
  2. IT support staff (ITSS): the enablers, we want this group of people to go through the 5 steps: http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/greenit/desktop.xml

  3. Senior decision-makers: the decision-makers, we want this group of people to ask IT groups to report on IT related energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, and to put in place tools and practices that reduce across the whole life-cycle.

The campaign will develop:

  1. Advice for academic staff and students
  2. A toolbox of implementation options for ITSS
  3. Advice for senior decision makers

The campaign will be run at Oxford and Liverpool, and all resources will be made available for other organisations to use. We will help other organisations run their campaigns where possible. * Develop model library and guide
